# pauseControls()

```

Defined in: [conversations/retry.ts:401](https://github.com/andresayac/botmesh/blob/main/packages/core/src/conversations/retry.ts#L401)

Interpreter hook: pause `ms` and then throw if the conversation is no longer alive. The pause
ends early when the conversation is aborted/replaced (`abort`, `abortAll`, `bot.stop()`,
`/reset`), so its timer never keeps the event loop alive. Foreign controls get a plain sleep.
